Do you know someone that would make a great Band Board member?
bulletSomeone who is involved or would like more involvement, and has the best interests of the Band and its Students at heart?
bulletSomeone who would like to have steering input to the decisions and directions presented before the Band?
bulletSomeone who has experience or talents that they could apply to support the Band efforts?

Perhaps that person is YOU, or another parent that you or your student has encountered during your time in the Band program that could serve well in a leadership capacity.  Many parents can be hesitant to  step forward until they are personally contacted, but it is often hard to anticipate who has particular skills and/or interest.  Remember, all parents of band students are automatically members of the Band Boosters organization, and can have input to ensure a quality band program for their child.  Serving on the Band Board can be a gratifying experience, full of fun and camaraderie.

The online nomination form below can be used to submit potential candidate names and reasons why the person would do well in the position.  You may submit your own name, or recommend someone else.  The nomination may be done either anonymously or not, and results are confidentially directed to the Nominating Committee.  It is the committee's responsibility to contact the nominee to determine interest and discuss the role responsibilities.  The season for open Board nominations is from January through March 18, 2008, with results reported to membership by mid April.  Nominees and co-nominees are encouraged for all positions.

Serving on the Nominations Committee and receiving the information you provide below include Elna Benbow, Donna Pritchett, and Ruth Revelle.

The following information is extracted from the Band Booster By-Laws.

The Board of Directors for the Apex High School Band works with the Band Director to promote and support the band program.  Board planning meetings are held on the 4th Tuesday of each month.  Board Directors serve a one-year term, renewable for an additional year for a maximum of two years consecutive service in the position.

Potential Officers are nominated by a Nominating Committee of not less than three (3) members, and shall be formed at the regular meeting in January of each year.  This committee shall be formed from volunteers from the general membership.  This committee shall render nominations for each elected office to the booster organization two weeks prior to the general meeting in April of each year.

At the general booster meeting in April of each year the members shall elect, by a majority vote of those members present, the new Board of Directors.  Each family in good standing (fees paid up for current year) shall be entitled to cast one vote per band student.

Newly elected officers shall assume their duties at the next regularly scheduled meeting following the election.

Please help generate a pool of interested and qualified nominees to potentially serve on the Band Booster Board.
