Our fundraising policy is based on keeping the events painless
yet profitable. Your support is invaluable for these fundraisers. We
thank you for your help with all we've done so far--the car
wash/bake sale, bbq dinner, and Citipass sales! Our budget is based
on $9,000 being raised throughout the season to make it balance.
We're about halfway there---we've got to keep to the beat and we'll
be golden!

Apex Band has been offered an opportunity to
raise up to $5000 by selling $5.00 Macy's shopping passes to friends
and family!
The WHOLE coupon proceeds of $5 will go
directly into your student account. The coupon is $5.00.
There is one pass for $10 off a $20 purchase and another coupon for
20% off all day. The 20% even includes designer brands like Polo,
Nautica, and Tommy. There also is an entry to win a $500 shopping
spree. The sale is Saturday Oct 13th, and organizations were
required to be present on that day, but when the store manager found
out it was a competition weekend she waived the requirement. Gail
and Ed Psyk will be taking your orders for coupons by email and
mailing your request directly to your home. The money and any
coupons not sold will be collected by October 12th and your
sales will be deposited into your account.
Please email Gail at

Here is some more detailed information that the
store manager (Cary) sent along:
Shop For A Cause Saturday, October 13, 2007
What is Shop For A Cause? This one-day shopping
event is one of the many ways Macy's gives back to our community
through support of local non-profit organizations. On Shop For A
Cause Day, guests have the opportunity to participate in a unique
shopping experience including discounts, entertainment, special
events and the opportunity to win a $500 shopping spree!
Where will this event be held? Every Macy's Store
nationwide.
How do organizations raise funds? Participating
organizations sell $5 shopping passes to the event. Your
organization keeps the proceeds from every shopping pass you sell.
It's that simple! By purchasing a shopping pass, customers can
support their favorite cause while enjoying a day full of
extraordinary discounts and events throughout the store.
Does Macy's keep a percentage of the ticket sales?
No. All ticket sale proceeds go directly to charity.
Shop For A Cause Savings Pass: SFAC Savings Passes
entitle the bearer to special savings on select merchandise
throughout the store in addition to regular and sale merchandise
specials. All day limited exclusion savings pass includes: • 20%
off* regular, sale & clearance women's, men's & kids' apparel &
accessories, fine, bridge & fashion jewelry, bed & bath items,
housewares, frames, luggage, china, crystal & silver.

Do you like NC State Football? Would you like to
be there for the Clemson, Carolina and/or Maryland Games? How about
making money at the same time? Of course, that's money for your
student account and our Band General Fund, but you really would be
there at the game!
Sign up to be an Usher (at least age 18) or Ticket
Taker (at least age 16) for one or all of the games mentioned above.
We receive $7.50 for every hour that you work at these State
Games--$5.50 goes into your student account and $2.00 goes into our
general fund. Parking is free and you are there at least 4 hours.
You will probably be there for 7 hours, so you could bring in a lot
of money for yourself and the band. There are some stipulations that
we need to follow so I've listed the details below.
September 22 NC State vs. Clemson
Kick off -- 12 noon
Call time for volunteers is 9 am (You are being paid for these
hours)
You need to wear Khaki shorts and mostly black
tennis shoes. You will be given a shirt and/or jacket to wear that
day. You will also be trained for your position. They fill ticket
taker spots first, then the usher spots.
We'd like to be able to send at least 15 people
each game. Students over 16 are welcome, friends of the band,
alumni, etc.
The game dates for Carolina and Maryland are Sat.
Nov. 10 (Carolina ) and Nov. 24 (Maryland)
Kick off times for these games are not yet
available.

Band Car Wash
Advance Auto Parts, Hwy 55 & Jenks Road
Saturday, 8/11/2007, 9:30 - 2:00
"If you have a car
... You need a Wash!" Come by Advance
Auto Parts located at Hwy 55 and Jenks Road. The band will
wash your car(s) for donations. Thank you for your support!
Planning:
Our First Car Wash has been Scheduled!!!
And it will be run by the CLARINET SECTION! Yeah!!! The students
loved the idea of a simultaneous Bake Sale so we are trying that
this year! Did you catch my enthusiasm? It really is a lot of fun!
Minimal Effort + Many Hands = Success!
The funds raised by this car wash/Bake Sale will go into the general
fund which will be helping to pay for the "extra" activities we have
coming up. (Remember that Arlington Trip that the Boosters is
helping to pay for?)
Here are the details and what we need from parents
and students to make this work:
Saturday, August 11, 2007
9:30 to 2:00
Advance Auto Parts, Hwy 55 & Jenks Road
We've already got a lot of volunteers but we still
need plenty of help. We're asking for help in 2 1/2 hour time slots.
If you need to come earlier or later than the time slot, that's
okay. We need at least 15 people to stick to the "minimal effort"
plan. As of right now, I need 3 more students for the 9:15 to 11:45
time slot and 4 more for the afternoon slot of 11:30 to 2:15. I have
plenty of parents for the morning, but could use two more for the
afternoon. I have several folks who signed up to bake--please drop
your goodies off at Advanced Auto as close to 9:30 as possible OR
bring them to school the day before when you come for the parent
performance. They must be marked clearly BAKE SALE in a disposable
container. Otherwise, chances are good that they will be served to
the kids at the Pizza Party. If you can individually wrap them so
they are "Ready to Sell," that would be a huge help! Please e-mail
Peggy Rasp at or "Fundraising
Email" -
click to reveal this spam-protected email address
to tell me when you can come or what you can send in.
We have other "WISH LIST" items below:
Fold Out Chairs - When you come to volunteer, bring your own
Hoses - We would love to have two long hoses donated. We have one in
bad shape, so this is at the top of our list. :-)
Y Connector for hoses - This would make another great addition to
our permanent supplies.
Step Stool - If you are signed up to work and have one of these we
can use during your shift, bring it along!
Drying Towels - the drying towels or chamois cloths work best - we
never have enough of these - would love to add to our collection!
We ask that all volunteers bring snack and drink and money for lunch
if you are working both shifts. We will have a water cooler on hand.
Thank you so much! Questions? Peggy Rasp, 362-7047 or "Fundraising

pm. Even if you don't have fruit to pick up, coming on Friday is
another way to help the band!
We will need lots of hands! Mr. Rowe will be
asking every band member to stay after school to help on Friday.
We're counting on help from parents as well. Every box will need to
be brought into the cafeteria and inspected. We have close to 400
boxes.
Please let me know if you can volunteer for
helping with unloading (bring hand carts if you have them),
inspecting, sorting and verifying orders. We'll need help in loading
them in vehicles for the next step of delivery too!
Please let me know if you have questions.

"Why work with Liberty Tax Service
in Apex?
Liberty Tax Service one of the fastest growing franchises in the
nation. # 1 in tax return guarantee. Here in Apex we are a family
location who is here to serve the community. We know and
understand that kids hate selling and dealing with the fact that
they can not just get everything they want. For this we are
offering a great middle ground. Their parents need to do taxes.
More than likely they do not know this yet. Liberty Tax Service is
offering the " Get it done for the Kids " program at no extra
cost. Taxes done quick and right for Mom and Dad, with the
non-stress money in the program for the kids. Can you get any
better !?"

The Band Boosters are selling the old green jackets
for $20 each. They are currently being sold to interested Marching
Band seniors (the last group to have worn them for an entire
season). On March 1 - March 15 the sale will be open to all
Apex Marching Band alumni as well. There are plenty of sizes
to choose from! Come by and check them out during our March
Booster meeting on Thursday, March 6th at 7:45pm, or by appointment
with Sue Finch or Bonnie Greenhalgh (click

You may take the jacket with you at time of purchase (cash or check
made out to Apex Band Boosters). All the Boosters and Mr. Rowe
ask is that you treat your jacket with the respect it deserves (no
defacing of any kind, please), and remember that when you wear it,
you are still a representative of the Apex High School Marching
Band. There is a limit of one jacket per student until after
March 15 when the sale will become public.
