Marching Band students and their families are invited to the Annual Band Camp Picnic.  It is held on the Sunday between the two weeks of Band Camp, which is Sunday, August 6 from 6:00 - 8:00 PM at the Apex Community Park.  The park is located off Laura Duncan Road near Old Apex Road, and a catered meal will be served.  Enter the park from Laura Duncan Road and drive all the way to the back where the shelters are located.  Marching band students will also attend a music rehearsal before the picnic at the high school from 4:00 - 5:45 PM.

The food will be provided by our local "Dixie Belle's Barbeque".  The menu includes:

bulletCarolina pulled BBQ
bulletBBQ chicken
bulletCreamy coleslaw
bulletBaked Beans
bulletPotato salad
bulletMacaroni and cheese
bulletHush puppies
bulletRolls and assorted sauces
bulletBanana pudding
bulletLemonade, iced tea (sweet and non-sweet), and cold ice water.

The cost for family members is $8.00 each. There is no charge for marching band students. However, please let us know whether or not your marching band student will be attending the picnic to help us provide an accurate count for the caterer, and so that we can prepare introductory nametags for all.  Click here or on the link above to let us know that you will be attending the Picnic by using the website RSVP form.  Please print and send your website RSVP form and enclosed check (payable to "Apex Band Boosters") by July 31st to the address indicated.

A brief Band Booster meeting will be held after the meal.  All are invited and encouraged to attend (even if you don't wish to eat) to receive important details for the marching band season and be introduced to the crew of camp staff, band officers, and section leaders.  If you wish to attend the meeting but don't choose to participate in the meal, please plan to arrive around 7:00.  Click here to use the website RSVP form and indicate that you are attending the meeting only, so that we can still prepare your introductory nametag.

This will be the first Booster meeting of the season with much important information you'll not want to miss.  Planned are introductions to band staff, and presentations of volunteer and fundraising opportunities.  Orders and payments will be taken for marching shoes (Dinkles) at the picnic. All new band members will need to buy shoes. It would also be a good idea for old members to check their Dinkles to see if they are still in presentable shape, and if they still fit those who have growing feet.  There are used Dinkles in various sizes that are available for sale on a first come-first served basis for $5.00 a pair.  You might want to bring lawn chairs to the band picnic, as we expect a big crowd and want everyone to have a seat.

We hope all of you will be there on Sunday, August 5 and help kick off the Best Apex Band Season yet!!!!
