Favorite Thing About Band:

“I love the feeling you get right before you step out on the field for competition, and the satisfaction of knowing you gave it your all.”
Megan S. (1)

-Even if you think marching band is dorky, there are over 100 other dorks surrounding you, sharing the same interest, so you have an automatic 100 friends. How unpopular are you now? Lauren H.

"The best part of Marching Band was all of the friendships that came about.  Just about all of my best friends are right here in the band.  Thanks guys."  Elliot Z.

Top 10 Reasons, by Amy D.
  1. The friendships created over four years.
  2. The ability to proudly say you are part of a movie band.
  3. The accomplishment of knowing that you worked hard and performed your best at the end of the season.
  4. Entertaining the crowd.
  5. Saying you survived band camp.
  6. Playing in the rain and mud (sounds bad, but when its hot its awesome).
  7. Being a part of a fast growing band program where its not so lame anymore to be a band nerd.
  8. Knowing that the guy next to you is just as sweaty after a competition as you and not being embarrassed by it.
  9. The bus rides back and forth to away games and competitions.
  10. Sporting the oversized uniforms with the plumes no one can touch with your head held high like those who came before you because although we are not as large as green hope, or have the sound as others, we are apex band and we still rock no matter what.

-Just click the heels of your Dinkles three times, say: "There's no place like home, there's no place like home...", and you are magically back in the band room! So it's pretty much impossible to get lost at Apex High anymore.  Lauren H.

A Parent's Story (Alyssa E.'s MOM):

We only lived here for a year and Alyssa was districted to West Cary Middle. When she came to the high school she knew nobody. Not one person. The night before band camp her freshman year, she begged me not to go. But the nice mom I am, I forced to try it the first day. I told her if she hates it she doesn't have to return. All I thought was how could I force my 14 year old daughter to do something like this against her will. Well, I dropped her off the first morning, and I cried all the way home. When I picked her up at lunchtime, of course I was there early, I waited in my car very anxious to see her. Well, here came the kids off the field. There was Alyssa, walking between 2 girls, talking and laughing. What a joy that was to see. It turned out to be the BEST thing Alyssa could have ever done. She has made the nicest friends. Friends that will be hers for a lifetime. Thank you Mr. Rowe.

Favorite thing about marching band:
by Megan S(2)

Waiting in the warm up arc before performing at a competition, because it is the moment that the talent of our group always comes together, and we are most united--by a combination of silly good luck rituals, the music really coming together, sectional cheers (Trumpets dominate???), and nerves before a hopefully empowering performance.

Justin B.'s Top 10:

1) make friends
2) play drums
3) go new places
4)get into football games free
5)get out of class early for pep rallys
6)looks good on your college applications
7)popsicle breaks
8)gives you something to do after school
9)fashionable uniforms
10)Dinkles (that means shiny shoes).

Advise from Cassie D.:
